2001 AE w/auto - reliability

Just curious about the auto tranny in the 5th gen Max. Considering going to look at an AE with 123,000. I trust the engine to be strong, but what about the tranny? Should I be worried or is this a reliable tranny? The price is good, but it won't be a good deal if I am forced to replace the tranny in a couple of months. The car is stock and has not been abused, mostly highway driving. This is going to be a daily driver for my wife.

Thanks for any advice.
Paul

the 5th gen maxima has problems like any other car. dont base your decision on the quality of the tranny. a tranny can go bad on any car.
i would buy it if i was you.

Does the car have maintenance records? I wouldn't be really concerned if you could document the tranny fluid being replaced on a regular basis.

I've purchased a 2k1 20th ann. maxima brand new I'm still driving it and honestly I've had very few problems. There was a TSB to replaced the solenoid and TCM under warranty at no charge. I had issues with the IAC valve that needed to be replaced twice but on the other hand I never had to replaced tranny, coil pack, maf etc.
