Will a 4th gen tranny work with a 2000 max?

as the title states..... are they the same or at least interchangeable? (automatic tranny)

Anyway... I "think" it can be done, I don't think there was any major changes in the tranny from the 4th --> 5th gen,

looking into a 2000 max with a possible bad transmission for a relatively cheap price and I have an extra 4th gen tranny. weighing my options before I commit to buying it.

IIRC, the 4th gen tranny is much weaker than the 5th gen tranny. I believe they ARE interchangable, BUT the 4th gen tranny is a downgrade in strength.
