Mechanics: Step in. Need a HOW TO.

is there anyplace I can find a how to on how to change the serp. belt? I bought the belts, there are 2 of them. I got them at courtesyparts.com Can anyone help me out?

well, i changed my serpentine belt along w/ the pwr. steering belt, and all in all everything was great.. squeaks were gone.. then this morning, start up.. all quiet.. 10 secs later, LOUD squeak again... then while driving, it's louder w/ accel and then softer w/ idle.. then while driving, it can go away completely for a few seconds.. then comes back.. and like this back and forth the whole 35 min drive to work this morning.. ANYONE??? PLEASE HELP!!! its so embarrassing!!!

+1 on the retighten. mine used to do that. only at start up for about 5 seconds. then it went away. it turned out it was just loose. tighten it a bit more. make sure there is a LITTLE bit of slack, not super tight.

Little = different to everybody, just tighten until sound goes away.

loosen the pully nut, tighten belt adjuster, retighten pully-nut, loosen belt adjust by 2-3 turns, go.

the guy told me its 99% not the pulley.. so i'll try the re-tighten thing.. thanks guys..

this started out to be help w/ belt change, now the belt is changed, its about the squeaking... read all replies instead of just the first post.

did you loosen the adjuster AFTER you tightened the pulley nut? If not, the tension on the adjuster rod will cause it to rub the pulley making a squeeking noise.
