I believe I've seen this post before years ago but I can't seem to find it when I search so I apologize for a duplicate post.

I'm thinking this is the speed sensor but i'm just not sure yet so i thought i would get some advice from you guys who know way more than me.

I could be cruising on the highway at 70 and every now and then it will downshift to like 3rd gear and i have to pull over to the slow lane and let it "kick back in".

The other problem is when accelerating from a stop it will sometimes get stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear and it takes about a minute to shift up.

any ideas on this? thanks!!

no CEL on?,... have you checked the tranny fluid level?,... how many miles on the tranny? ,.. also put the tranny into 1 and drive normal and shift it up into 2 - ect ect till drive and see if it shifts fine,...

 

what year car?

sounds like a bad TCM (transmission control module). there are lots of threads about that. you will need a new one to fix the problem.

 

Replace TCM...if that doesn't fix it, then replace the solenoids.
