Japanies Maxima????

Japanies or American are Maximas made in Japan or America. I went to a local dealership and they told me that they are made in Japan and shipped to America.
But I figured since Maximas are reasonable priced compare to Hondas and Toyotas they must be made domestically also.

What the others have said are correct.
The Infiniti I30 and the Nissan Cefiro (the Maxima in Japan) are designed and built in Japan. The Maxima is designed in California and built in Japan. The next generation Maxima will probably be built in the United States.
All you have to do is look at the first character of the VIN. Here's a quick guide:
1 = made in USA
2 = made in Canada
J = made in Japan
