Flipping ticked off

This afternoon, I was doing some routine maintence on my car, when I was jacking up my front passegner side, removing my tire, and one bolt won't move, and it was stripped along with the lug. I was ticked off, then I found one more lug is stripped, Replacing new lugs are no problem but my question is the bolt, is it replacable, since the thread is stripped and I know there has to be a way to replace it since I don't want to find out that I have to replace the entire C-V joint. I had no success getting the caliper bracket bolt off so I can remove the rotor. Anyone had any sucess with it? I am just ticked off and I have to take it in to get that bolt replace.

this probably happened due to over-tightening the lugs...

the studs are easy to replace...

you will need to remove the caliper and rotor

then hammer out the studs.... and put back the new ones... use a lug-nut w/ some washers to re-insert the studs snuggly

if you need to do a brake job, now is the perfect time...

Problem: he said he can't remove the caliper and rotor because he stripped the caliper bolt.

Back to square one!

Get a blowtorch and try heating it first. By stripped, do you mean the head or the threads?

Is the caliper bolt actually stripped, or you just can't loosen it? I've done my brakes several times, and usually have to use a breaker bar (long non-ratchet socket bar) to get that bolt loose.

I think his lugs are stripped and his caliper bolt is frozen (he can't un-bolt it). Use some nut buster like liquid wrench on the caliper bolt, WD-40 does a sh!tty job with this.

Follow directions above for replacing lug nuts. Just be careful with the brake dust guard. Straighten it back out if you dent it at all because if you don't it will rub against your rotor causing a lot of noise.

I thought the girl in your avatar was a nut buster also...

And she might be cheaper than getting a can of liquid wrench.

thanks guys, it cracked me up about a nut buster, well I am taking it in to get the stud replace, i'll let the mechanic do all the grunt work trying to get the caliper bolt off so they can remove the rotor and put the new stud on the rotor.
