It could but I use synthetic and I change it at 3000-3500. I personally think that your pushing it.

Both; and I use OE.nissan filters but I want to use K&N because they capture 10% more microns then stock(can't find them though)Good-Luck

yeah I looked for a K+N air filter also and they don't have those either. You figure they are so popular and they sell that they would have more.

I just change the filter out with the oil. It's cheap insurance. I use the Nissan OEM filter...

Well what is the use of getting synthetic oil if I am going to throw it away every 3k. I could just use petroleum/regular oil instead. Petroleum has been tested to last at least 7-8thousand miles if not more. It is the filter that is my concern.

I have never tried this before but can you change the filter without taking out the oil first?

YES, not a bad idea either.

Dude, im not trying to be rude but, just change the oil and the filter. If you take the filter off some oil will come out and you'll just have to add it back in. Just use regular oil for now on if your that concerned about the price. As far as the K&N I ment the oil filter.GL

personally..

Most of my trips are less than 15 mins. During that period, our cars get about 14.5 mpg (like all the other new v6s). Thats VERY rich.

With 3K changes, dino oil usually comes out smelling like gas. My Mobil1 comes out still smelling sweet without only a hint of bitter gas smell. I tend to think thats a good thing. I have a syn oil sample going off to Blackstone this morning, so I can actually give you some data if my theory is correct.

tim, that sounds good. I would like to know what the results are. What is your oil maintenance schedule now? Every 3ooo miles?
