I just got off the phone with Conrad at Nitto Tires. Apparently, the information on Nitto's website is a misprint. The mininimum allowable rim width for Nitto 555 Extreme ZR tires in sizes 235/45R17 and 245/45R17 is 7.5", not 7.0". Conrad said that Nitto would be correcting their website information shortly.
Conrad also reiterated that all of the tire and rim standards bodies (Asian, European and American) stipulate 7.5" as the minimum rim width for tires from any manufacturer in sizes 235/45R17 and 245/45R17.

mmmmm INTERESTING......
i recall saying something of a sort awhile back in that big tire thread thing. Juss cause Nitto says it doesnt mean its correct. Something like a 225 was spec for 7" while 245 was spec for 7" too. Something didnt add up.....

hmmmm sounds weird... never heard of that problem...
i talked to a guy about ICW Racing 87cs 18x7 and they said it would fit fine on 235/40ZR-18s...
and i think CraigMack put on some Konig 17x7s on 235s...

yep thats what i been saying all along. 235's or 245's will fit on a 7" rim. but is NOT recommeneded. You can make a 255 fit on a 7" rim too...but juss cause you can manage to fit it on the rim doesnt mean its safe or correct. And juss cause you get a wider tire on a narrow rim doesnt mean handling gets better.
Hey ummmm, ICW stuff isnt excatly what id call good rims. their quality are on the same levels as American Racing. (pretty bad)Our shop sells both and im embarassed to tell my customers about them.
