Dealer replaced my o2 sensor under emissions warrenty.

So I was at the dealership today to pick up a cabin air filter and i asked the service manager about the my SES. So i told him that my car is a 02 and that it had the SES come on and it says P0139 and P1147 and he told me that its the B1S2 o2 sensor and asked if the reprogramming of the ecu was covered under the warrenty. I already ordered the o2 from DaveB. The service manager told me that it might be covered under the 8yr/80,000 mile emissions warrenty. He also said that if you clear the code it might be off for 5-10k miles but its going to come back because the ecu doesnt know that new o2 has been put in. He said that some of the 02 Maxima fall under the warrenty due to its ecu. He said that he would have to see what kind of ecu it has and it might be under warrenty. Now im thinking that once they do the diagnostic, their going to tell me what i already know about the o2 being shot. My only question is that, im assuming that the only think that i might be covered for me is the ecu but not the actual o2 but he made it sound like that the o2 will be covered. Im pretty sure he is just trying to get me to come into the dealership so he can sell me other bs.

My reprogram (ECM update) was covered under warranty when I had the P0420/P0430 (can't remember which one)

Then make sure it's covered before they do the work. And if they say it's not, ask them why.

The ECM and cat are the only items covered under the 8/80. A repair or replacement of those two parts are free. A reprogram of the ECM must be considered a repair.

As with all auto service, you should receive a written estimate of cost before approving any work.

Update:

so here is the deal. i went to brown's nissan in fairfax, va today and i told them that i had the mil on for a p0139 and p1147. They took a look at it and told me that they may charge $98.00 bucks for the diagnostic but the service advisor told me that the o2 sensor and the reprogram is going to be covered under the 8yr/80k mile emissions warrenty and that i have to pay NOTING for any of the repairs. They replaced everything as promised and did it very quickly. Im in the process of returning my B1S2 o2 sensor back to DaveB because it was replaced and im a very satisfied customer. The best part is they didnt even bother me about the issue. They just took the keys, fixed the problems and said have a nice day. For those of you in the NOVA area, go see Charter Wells, he is the service advisor that helped me out. Very nice and easy to work with. Thumbs up to Brown's Nissan in Fairfax.

WAO... I guess different dealers have different opinions in regard to that. My dealer charged for the o2 sensors... Those ****ers... Whoever is in that area in VA., should make sure and use that dealer.

yeah i think it all comes down to who you go to. i was leary about going to dealer to fix this and i expected that they were going to hit me with a large bill but instead they fixed everything no questions asked. I dont even have a extended warrenty. i only have the 8yr/80k left. first time going to this dealer too. they also did the courtesy inspections w/o asking and told me minor things wrong. the didnt try to sell me stuff.

the O2 sensors are not covered under warranty (according to nissan warranty) because they are wear items.

the dealership was actually smart...they made you pay the diagnostic fee then said they were doing the sensors for free. most places just charge that amount for the sensor replacement. they still got your money...they just said they charged you for something else.

ive used that dealership before and they are good.

If more dealers were like that, they'd sell more cars. I will never buy a car from my local dealer because of how they operate their service department.

The problem is they probably make more money from parts and service than selling cars.
