Painted Dash Pieces W/PICS (Stock Matching)

OK guys...well I FINALLY came around to painting certain parts of my dash that I wanted to color match to the rest of the dash. I didnt want a molded kit, a 3M dash kit that sticks on, or some kind of vinyl crud..So I thought of some other ways to make a good look for the interior. I figured I would just paint the pieces to match the stock color because it would make the whole interior flow better. It took a while to find something that looked similar to the stock dash, the bronzish/gunmetal color..but I think I finally got it. You all know how it looks like:

1. The flat black gauge cluster trim
2. The flat black gauge cluster bezel
3. The ABS black plastic METRA dash kit for aftermarket H/U

Before:

After:

You can all see the stock black color that used to be on the old gauge cluster trim and gauge bezel by looking at the actual gauge cluster and the dimmer switch/blank switch cover on the gauge cluster trim piece above the steering wheel..
Let me know what you think...

looks clean and the metra dash kit is an eyesore prior to the painting but now looks better. Did you sand down the dash kit to give it a smoother appearance?

Looks good. Where did you get the paint? Can you take some daytime pics without using the flash?

Thanks. After I applied the clear coat, I wet sanded with 2000 grit until the piece was smooth to the touch.

Thanks alot. I picked up the paint at a local autozone, cost be about 5 bucks a can. I was able to put 2 coats of the paint on each piece and still have about 1/2 a can left over. I can take daytime pics but I dont have access to a camera right now. I'll get that done ASAP

you just painted the Metra kit, and the guage bezel, and not all the trim, right? And what brand and color of paint, I don't have an AutoZone but I do have an Advance Auto parts and a Wal-mart that I can look for it at. Thanks

I have done the same thing myself, after having it on the car since July I have had no problems. That is in the mid-GA sun through July and Aug. (105ish) as well as down to the mid teens. Sorry guys, thats as cold as it gets here.

your friends used the wrong clearcoat and the wrong paint...the paint paint i used is specifically for plastic and I used a UV resistant/head resistant clear..
