Engine light still on..

i searched and still couldnt find anything..
I recently clean my TB and after i started the car the engine SEL came on
so i took it to autozone to get it cleared..so they cleared it, and it came back on about 5 miles later.. so about a week later i found how to reset the ecu
so i did.. then drive about 5 miles and it came right back on
What could it be?

instead of just clearing the code...find out what is actually causing the code and fix it so the code doesnt come back.
sounds simple to me

after cleaning the TB, you have to do the throttle position sensor learning procedures.

Its unfortunate that you can’t learn common sense in school.

P0507 - Idle Speed Control System RPM Higher Than Expected.

THIS WILL SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM if not then take to dealer they will only charge around $50 and will perform the relearn procedure.
click the link below read and then click the link that is in second post.

I'm new to the maxima scene but it sounds to me that the problem your experiencing is a fried ECU. Follow this link to a great thread on ECU's. It's an expensive fix...... unless your under 80,000 miles then the dealer should cover everything under the Federal Emissions Warrenty. (Of course, thats in a perfect world)

I dont believe its a fried ECU if that was the case he probably wouldnt be able to start his car Check your MAF.

Fried MAF... buy the replacement part and swap it yourself in 5 minutes, or learn about the 2k1 MAF/thermistor change and git'er done yourself in 10 with less out of pocket.

High idle doesn't indicate a fried MAF.

Sounds like the procedure didn't work. Doing it manually rather than having a nissan tech doing it with the consult II is problematic. Try it again and if you are still seeing problems take the car to the dealer and have them do it.

Apparently he did, see quote below. Seems as his options are limited now:

Let sit for 35+ hours, new/used TB ditto on ECU.

Yes I saw that but I still recommend trying it again as it sounds like the new settings/parameters weren't saved. Letting the car sit it also a good thing to try.

Happened to me once. While cleaning the TB, did you move the butterfly all the way up or just slightly? Redo the IDLE AIR VOLUME LEARN procedure WITH ECU RESET. If that doesn't take care of it, then let the car sit with the battery disconnected for about 35+ hours just like NmexMAX said above. If that doesn't fix it, let it sit for at least 7 days (did the trick for me after the 2 previous steps didn't take care of it). IF that doesn't fix it, then you know you need a new TB, but that would be my absolute last resort. Try again and again before replacing anything. Good luck!
