Y-pipe newly installed...

Ok, so i just got my cattman y-pipe installed by my mechanic and let me tell you, i am slightly disappointed.. he had a really hard time getting it in there, and had to do alot of coercing with a big crowbar, a mallet, and another mechanic.. now the cat seems to be hanging a little lower than before and the bolt attatching it to the bracket above the pipe didn't line up.. everything i've read about the cattman fitment said it was supposed to be perfect.. as far as driving experience.. i notice it's slightly louder at idle, i don't know if thats normal or not.. and i can feel the power difference, but it's not dramatic as i've read about.. i havent taken it on the highway yet, but i can feel that it does go through 2nd gear a little quicker than before, but i expected more.. maybe my ecu has to take the time to adjust to it, but so far, was it worth $350 plus $100 for installation? I don't think so... will it feel different after the ecu adjusts or is this all im gonna get?

no exhaust components are going to fit perfectly, as they can be affected by worn out exhaust hangers or other factors like worn motor mounts (which cause the engine to "sag" a little bit. I have a 1st generation Cattman YP (the "prototype" of what you have) and it was a bit difficult to put on, but no more so than any other exhaust stuff.

Question: did your mechanic loosen the forward upper exhaust manifold like he was supposed to? If not, it would make it much harder to get the YP in there because of bolt clearances (i did it without loosening since my EM studs were seized...so my ypipe is NEVER coming off....it will go with the car someday!).

As to power....the butt dyno is not exactly a reliable measurement. Ypipe is supposed to make 10-15whp depending on your other mods (I note you still have stock b-pipe?). When you think about it, that is only about a 4-7% power increase over stock...not exactly a HUGE gain. I can speak for myself and say that my dyno numbers don't lie (200/200) with the cattman y compared to stock.

The ECU will adjust.

BTW, if they only charged $100 install, that's not bad compared to what some guys have paid, though i can't speak from personal experience. Hell, most shops won't even install a ypipe since it is illegal to remove emissions control devices (precats).....

yeah i know.. i know these guys, so i know i got a good deal on the price and looking over the illegality (is that a word? lol) of the install.. midas refused to do it cause of the precat issue.. and no i dont think he loosened the exhaust manifold first.. with my stillen intake you think i got the full 15 hp extra? and once the ecu adjusts i'll feel more of a power difference right?

I didn't really feel power gains on mine in 1st and second, but when I punch it in 3rd gear at around 70 mph you can feel the car just start pulling.

i can actually feel it down low in first gear.. i was surprised cause i heard that you could lose some low end torque with the y-pipe install.. i guess i gotta wait a little bit until after the ecu adjusts to feel the full effects of it though

Once installed there wasn't much felt.. It did make it louder with the catback already installed, but i thought it would be felt a lot more than it did. I'm a little dissapointed....
