Im reaching 15k on my 2k max, I have received a newsletter from the dealer for a "intermediate" checkup, for $150. I've read the things covered and they listed like 20 things and almost all the things have the keyword "inspect", it seems like I'm paying $150 only for the oil change tats part of the checkup. I dont plan on going to the dealer, but I'm not sure where to go ??? At 15k, all I think tat needs to be done is check my brakes, and change oil. I've been thinking either going to one of them outside nissan dealer specialist or just going to an autocenter like sears, penske, or winston something like tat. Which ones do u guys go to and trust, cuz I'm hoping to keep my Max for over 100K miles .

Service

I personally don't trust any of those places. That's probably why I wish I had a hydralic lift myself...hehe

But as for the 15000 mile service. Yes they are supposed to visually inspect all the hoses and belts, exhaust, tires, brakes, etc... stuff you can do yourself if you know how and what to do. As for the oil change, you can do that yourself too if you know how. The dealer replaces your air filter, but the owners manual says 30,000 miles. So, it's really up to you. If you feel confortable doing things yourself, cars in general made these days should not have any problems, at least major ones when new. I didn't bring it in at 15000 and I will not bring it in ever. Unless it's a recall ie, paint, fuel cut, brakes, stuff that's been plagues us... I do it all myself. And if it's too tough to do myself, I might bring it in to the dealer thinking they should know what they are doing...

Besides what do they car if they scratch up your cars under carriage where they put the lifts arms or get grease on your car that you may not notice at first... it's not their car. I don't trust them especially when they bring my car back with the seat all messed up and the parking brake yanked up so high that I didn't even think it'll go that high... those nissan service people, hate going there, especially when they treat you like you don't know anything, and when they know that you know what you're talking about, they play dumb, they're all like that...

But on the other hand you can bring it to your mechanic that you trust, know or your friend that knows what they're doing.

Just my opinion and how I feel and you are entitled to yours..

oh and I plan on driving this car until it dies, which will hopefully be well above 200,000 miles or when I win the lottory and buy an even better car, which time will tell what that will be

As for the air filter, I would change it around 10k miles. My stock filter was nasty at only 7k miles and I swapped it out for a k&n.

yea, I have 20,000 miles on original air filter, not that dirty, but then it's all highway. That's why I got the Amsoil air filter so my baby can breathe easier.

Save the $150, pay $25 for an oil change and forget it. You should be on your second tire rotation at this point and you can look and the pads then. There should be no visable wear at this point unless you hammer them at stop lights.
You can check the fluid levels, all should be fine, maybe add a little distiled water to the battery.
I owned a new 89 SE for 11 years and never once to it to a deater for any type of manual required servicing.
Only when something failed and I wanted them to diagnose it.
I would then replace the part myself.
Those people will over charge you, do little if anything and scratch your car and leave dirty paw prints in it. Who needs to pay for that agrivation.
Oil changes are a piece of cake. You do need a floor jack and small strap wrentch for the filter. I back up the floor jack with the trunk jack while under the car. Takes 25 minutes max.

Screw the Dealers!
