When is it time?
Hey everyone, I just recenetly upgraded my suspension to A H&R with illuminas setup. I am in desperate need of an alignment as my car pulls HEAVY to the right and am going this weekend for an alignment... But i was wondering, how often do you need to get your tires rotated or your wheels balanced? What are symptoms that you need this? I know alignment is basically done whenever the car doesnt feel "aligned" lol. But with rotating tires and balancing wheels, how do u know when you need this done?
Generally you should get your wheels rotated every 5,000 miles I've been told just to keep the wear even...I do it every time I change my oil...makes it nice and easy to remember.
I get my car aligned for free every summer when I put on my aftermarket wheels because I bought my tires at a local shop that offers this deal...Unless you hit something that knocks it out of alignment you probably only would want it maybe every other year, but i'm not positive.
I think once you get your wheels balanced those never need to be touched.

Align every time you do something to mess up your suspension's alignment.
Wheels should be rotated every couple thousand miles depending on driving style.
If not rotated/aligned you can have uneven wear on the tires which can lead to a blowout (personal experience)

What is the difference between the 3? How can I tell if i need a balancing or rotation? Its easy to tell about an alignment as your car will pull to the side.. Whats symptoms of balancing or rotation?

I rotate my tires every 7500 miles or every other oil change whichever comes first. Some tire shops I've visited recommend 10k intervals, but since I get free rotation/balancing for the life of the tires I stick to their schedule of 7500 miles. For balancing, the way you tell is by putting the tire on the balancing machine, also if its out of balance the car might pull as well. For rotating you need to have a schedule, front wheel drive cars with our hp numbers tend to wear out the fronts much faster than lesser powered cars. If you lose a weight you'll need to get them re-balanced or if you don't clean your wheels properly the accumulation of dirt inside the rims can cause problems too, (just like snow in the rim). If you've ever experienced that.
these arent 5th gen specific questions...these are proper common maintenance questions than can be answered by using google.
