Question for those with Hawk brake pads

Are you guys using OEM shims and/or shim covers behind the pads? My mechanic said shims are not supposed to be used with performance pads but I find this hard to believe.

the pads have built in shims but i still used the shims that came off the OEM pads

im just riding on the shim pad covers that came attatched to the pads...Its also one of my reasons why they squeal

did you use anti squeal lubricant?

whatever came with the pads is what i used...hawks hps & brembo blanks...so anti squeel and i get no noise, vibration, just great braking feedback
