Tiny Rust Spots Everywhere
Alright, heres an odd one. I have little rust spots all over my car, they are about the size of a pencil tip. When I say all over I mean NOT on the roof or hood or trunk, just the fenders and bottoms of doors. I even have them on the PLASTIC splash guard things in front of the rear tires. Any ideas?

Has your car been sitting for awhile? I mean after a rain? Could be that your rotors had surface rust and when you drove on them it was "flung" all over your whip.
Kind of like when you put too much tire shine on your shiz.

Hey cpuguy
I have an 01 pearl max with the same problem every year...Living in this salt ridden climate of Cleveland this happens every winter....They are so small and not apparent to the naked eye but you must really look to see these..It doesn't appear to be "rust" but the "lovely" nissan paint.....The dots easily come off with a clay bar and some elbow grease. Just keep up on it and it won't come back as often....I get many comments after I clay the car every time because it looks new and people can't believe it's on 01...Just be patient and take some time to CLAY the car...My 2 cents....Paul

like mentioned above, it is the brake dust. Brake dust tends to "stick" to pretty much everything and anything, wash your car often and it'll be alright. When you clay your car, it makes the paint surface less sticky hense why you don't see these dots as much or at all for that matter, for some time untill the paint surface gets "rough" again.

Rail dust, brake dust, road debris. The little specs are tiny metal particles, from what I just mentioned, they stick and embed themselves in your paint surface, and rust. What you see is actual rust, not your paint, but the little metal shavings rusting. Claying w/ a lot of elbow grease will get rid of it, and make sure you get rid of it before it starts to really damage your paint. White paint is the worst simply because it is so visible.

Yes, you clay right after you wash your car. After the claying is done, then you can polish, wax, seal etc ... There are different size bars, the smaller bars, 50grams I believe will last 3-5 apps, depending on how bad the car is. If there are a lot of rail dust specs, I probably would use it just once.

Yeah., it sucks but it happens.
I take a train and commute to work. The rear end of my car always faces the train and I get the little pencil size dots.
A little CLAY and you are golden. I will do it again late in the summer. It happens. It's not the Nissan paint, its the environment.
My wife's Toyota gets em, my Bother in Law's Honda gets em. GL.
