2002 Suspension options
Hello Folk, first off I like to state I did a search and unless I didn't use the correct key words (which I might have not of) I was not able to find the answer I was looking for.
I have a '02 Maxima SE and now with over 121,000 miles on the car its time to swap out the Suspension. If I have any complaints of the car the biggest would be the Suspension setup on the car from the factory. I feel it is way to hard (Compared to: My brothers GS400, My Mom's Camry, Friends Q45, and '04 Maxima SE) I am not looking for a extremely soft ride but not as firm as what I have now. I wanted to know if someone has a good suggestion on what setup I should be looking at. Ideally I would like to drive a car with this setup but I know that is going to be a tall order to fill. So I am looking towared you guys heavily to help me out.

You may want to find some OEM springs off a GLE model, which are softer than SE springs. When I researched for my setup, I concluded that the softest ride on my GLE would come from stock GLE springs with Tokico struts. The Blues are comparable to stock and the Illumina's are adjustable. Checkout this link for a good write up of different suspension setups: http://maxmods.dyndns.org/index.php?MaximaHandling
Are you sure your poor ride quality isn't due to your struts being worn out? I just installed Tokico Illumina's and H&R sport springs. My ride is definitely stiffer and I feel bumps on the road more, but I prefer the better handling over the softer suspension, which feels a bit too bouncy for me. My struts had 184k miles on them, and with the new setup I have, my car actually rides smoother. I think if you want something softer than the SE suspension, you will need to convert to GLE springs.
