My JWT pop charger came in today. I have two questions:

1) Removing the stock intake box is a pain. I did some searching and others have noted this. I got everything off except the two bottom screws of the tube that connects the rear of the intake box to the engine. These are two of the four screws that actually connect the pop charger once it's installed. One of these two is difficult to reach, but possible. The other (toward the front) is blocked so well that I can't get any wrench or socket in to loosen it. How can I get this screw out?

2) In the meantime, I have to go somewhere tonight, so I put all the stock components back in. Now, when I rev the throttle, I can hear air being sucked in. It is the same sound that a friend's pop charger makes, but it is not as loud or as long in duration. I don't recall hearing this before. Does anyone's stock intake setup make this noise? Did I put something back together incorrectly (I hope not - it was rather simple)? Or did my Max always sound like that and I just missed it?

Thanks for the help. MS

You missed something. Check all you connections again.

To get the bottom bolts of the stock airbox you have to remove it with that piece of the tubing attached. You can pull the whole thing from the MAF sensor area (technical there eh?) after loosening the hose clamp that holds it in place. Be gentle with the tubing. Several of us have broken a bolt hole or two off it.

Double checked everything...it all looks correct. I didn't crack any of the intake plastic...I checked that after punkdork's reply.

I think I may have bumped or disconnected a vacuum line, that is what it sounds like. And it seems to be coming from the throttle body (where the throttle cable connects to the engine - sorry, my terms may not be used correctly).

Any other thoughts are appreciated. MS

You shouldn't have disconnected the "accordian" tube that goes from the "book" to the manifold. If you didn't then my guess is the rubber gasket/collar that the tube from the airbox/MAF slides into. That thing was a B(IT)CH to push in without the gasket being pulled in. Anyways, disconnect then reconnect the airbox/MAF from the "book", the box with all the vacuum hoses connected to it that looks like a book held on its side. If all else fails, just duct-tape each joint/connection one-at-a-time, then go for a drive, to see if the noise goes away. Hope this helps.
