Weird Tranny Problems (searched already)

For the last year I have been having weird tranny issues. Every three or four months randomly when I am driving my tranny will start acting funny. It is like it is searching for the gears (feel through petal). Then it wont catch in a gear (it is random gears 1-3 no preferrence).

Then I will slow to a stop, turn off the car, and start again and it will be sort of fine. For that day the downshifts coming to a stop are pretty rough from 2-1. Also, the engine will throw a code speed sensor malfunction. After the car sits overnight the next day no problems and the ses code will stay on for like two-three days then go away.

I am not sure if it is a tcm problem, speed sensor, or a random thing that I shouldnt worry about. I search and couldnt find anyone else with a similar problem any insight? Btw, I have a 2000 auto. The tranny fluid is only about 15,000 miles old and the level is perfect. Thanks in advance

Sounds like you need a new vehicle speed sensor.

What is the code you are getting. I'll look it up later for you and list possible causes.

I don't know the code off hand since it isnt putting it out right now. I am suspect a TCM problem more than a maf. When a maf affects a tranny it is always coupled with a power loss, or not being able to cross a cretain rpm range. That isnt my problem.

Furthermore, I suspect TCM over maf because of how it is shifting afterwards. I have never heard of a maf problem causing rough downshifts. I always clean my maf every 10000 miles or so and another thing to remember is I dont have the fragile 02-03 maf.

I have the original tcm I know there was a TB issued with some of the firmware upgraded. What model TCM should I be looking for?

Any recommendations on an updated TCM model. I am kinda strapped for cash. Also, remember mine is a 2000 auto. Thanks
