No not really, If you take it off or add a Y-pipe it will.

i had a straight pipe and a y-pipe and a 2 1/2" exhaust into a apexi n-1 muffler and the car sounded like a harly. so i put the cat back on and it sounds like a civic(but deeper) with a exhaust

The y-pipe will not add a lot of noise. It will make the exhaust sound a lot deeper. You will like it though.
