Power window problem

I searched the org about this and havent found anything on it so ill make a new post about it

im sure theres alot of 5th Gens that have this problem too
its when you put the window up automatically and it goes all the way up...stops...and then lowers again. lol its annoying but yea need to fix that sh*t

i think its probably because the window thinks that its hitting something but ive checked to see if theres anything in the way and nothing....

its on my driver window , im not sure if its happened to other windows to anyone else.

thanks.

I have the exact same issue you are having. I'm not sure what the issue is either but I'd like to fix it.

I think they are supposed to do that so your fingers don't get stuck or crushed.

They should do that, but only if something is in the way. In our cases, nothing is in the way, it simply gets to the top and comes back down.

Well maybe theres a way to like reset this so it knows that theres nothing in the way.

when i got the car, it had this problem but either way i ended up buying a new battery for it...meaning i left the battery out for more than 15 mins.
after that it still had the problem,
im gunna try to reset the ECU later
(with the ignitoin off n on and gas pedal procedure)
and see if it still does this.

Let me know if that works, I don't expect that it will. I think it has something to do with the window itself thinking something is in the way.

The Window Regulator needs to be reset. I had to do this for my passenger window last summer, it's easy to do and only takes a few minutes. You can find the instructions here: http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.ph...64&postcount=3

How would you get the auto function to work for the front passenger side window? One touch down and one touch up.

I'm having the same issue on my 03 Max SE. I'm a bit of a newbie, didn't touch the car for the last 4 years and now I've developed an interest. Anyways, I didn't get very far and was hoping someone would help me out here. I started by removing the plastic cover surrounding the door pull handle expecting to see a screw somewhere. The only screw I see is near the door hinge covered with round plastic cover. I tried removing the screw but it still didn't allow me to remove anything else.

Could someone provide a little more detail about how I actually get inside the door. Thanks.

Man there are a ton of threads on this. It looks like a screw but it is a button. Look a little bit.

Yea but how exactly do you get the door panel off to get to the reset switch? That is my question.

You don't have to remove the entire panel, only the plastic cover surrounding the door pull handle where the actual window controls are. Once that cover is off look forward and down and you should see a small black "button" behind the clear plastic that covers the metal. When you press the button it's very firm and it's kind of hard to tell that you are actually pressing a button. Once you've located it, follow the instructions outlined here:http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.ph...64&postcount=3

Ok, so you're not talking about the part which has the lever to open the door and the lock but the panel which has the buttons for opening/closing the windows etc? I was removing the plastic trim around the part with the lever and lock.

You were removing the wrong part. You want to remove the little handle that you us to pull the door shut. There is one screw inside there. Then just follow the directions from there and you should be fine.

DnB, I did manage to open the right part this time. Got the switch panel off and looked inside with a flashlight, but could not find the described switch. There were a bunch of screws, some slotted some not. But I couldn't see anything black which looked like a button or switch. I did see a small hole in the middle behind the plastic but no switch. I did try holding in a few screws and tried the procedure but no luck. So I put the switch plate back again in disappointment.

bhairya - It's been over a year since I reset mine but I remember that it was right below the open area below the window switch panel when I removed it and behind the plastic insulation. If I get a chance this weekend I'll take some pics but it really shouldn't be that difficult to find.

You're right, it should be fairly easy to locate. I moved the cables around and looked and looked, but all I saw were screws. I have a 2003 SE. Any chance there may be something different in the 03? Also, there is a little metallic lever/switch kind of thing sticking out through the plastic but I couldn't move or press it. It did not look like the switch described in the instructions but I tried pressing it and opening/closing the window anyway but no luck. All I saw were a bunch of screws all over the place and that little hole I mentioned above.

Window 'switch'

Had the same problem myself last month, got the 'cure' here, using the same instructions as you have. But the 'switch' you need to depress doesn't look like a switch per se, rather more like a screw head (behind the plastic sheet inside the door, down toward the bottom/left of the opening). It's not black, either, in my 2002, but rather gold colored. Anyway, this cure works like a champ...it's just that the switch doesn't look or feel like a switch. But pressing on it with a screwdriver or something, through the plastic sheet without cutting it, per the directions, works to solve the problem.

Hmmm, I can try again tomorrow looking on the left bottom part and pressing in all the screw heads one by one on that side. I was just using my finger to press not a screwdriver.

I'm having this problem on my front passenger side door. Do I look for the switch on that door or the drivers side door?

I finally found the switch and fixed the problem. My issue was that I wasn't remvoing the whole switch panel, just the handle slot so I wasn't able to see the button. Thanks to mrmj for posting the solution.
