My 2k1 AE wheels are showing some flaking at the very top edge near the where the tire meets the rim. The only shop to touch my wheels was the Nissan dealer when they swapped out the Bridgestone for Michellin a few months back. I'm thinking that in their haste to remove the original tires, they damaged the wheel by scratching them, and now it is spreading.

So, my question is whether or not anyone else, particularly those of you with the AE or AE wheel set, are experiencing the same thing. If you are, then it is probably unlikely my dealer did it in the tire change, but in any event, I'm ready to file a complaint and ask that they either be repaired or replaced. 8700 miles and flaking rims, already? I don't think so..

I can see that happening, when tires are changes, an alluminum bar is used to press or pull the bead of the tire on and off the tire. Meanwhile it rides on the lip of your rim. And I think our 17 inch rims don't really have a lip (like the ones on rims that you can clamp weights to on the outside). Most regular rims will have that and won't be painted and won't really get damaged. Ours don't have that so that bar rides or slides/scrapes against that edge and may chip the paint or finish of the rim. I'm just waiting for that to happen when I need new tires.

I guess you can try to file something with the dealer, never hurts I guess. Except I stopped because it's too inconvenient for me... I don't trust them.

Dude, I thought you were getting a BMW or something because you don't like the paint on Nissan.
