Ok it's not a performance mod, but it's still cool.
The "OTTO SCAN" software can use your OBD-II port ALL '96+ cars have, to tell your ECU sensor values and codes. Sort of like the TECHTOM MD-100, but instead of a neat little LCD display that shows only 3-values at a time, it uses a Palm Pilot/Handspring Visor.
I emailed them to ask if it works on 5th gen Max, and Bill emailed me back and said YES. However, he also stated, "OTTOSCAN works great on the Maxima as I rented one about two weeks ago for testing!" It sounds a little convienent and I don't see a Return Policy on their website. Anyways, he sent me a PDF file with the info, so I'll attach it below.
Anybody interested in trying this? Maybe, we could go in together, since it is $350. I only need the software, since I have a Palm IIIxe and I can make the cable at work. You would have to also have a Palm III though.

You can get the ISO plug that plugs directly into the OBDII output under the dash. I have used to take the readings of my CAI and to diagnose check engine light codes. I am planning for the install of the y-pipe and I want this tool to scan for codes and to get my general data. It was interesting to say the least from my first several scans. It was able to pinpoint my exact high speed and my highest RPM value. It also take Air Intake Temp readins and MAF readings. I like to use the MAF and Throttle Postition Sensor on the digital dash option. You can save your scan and replay it once finished.
