power loss problem

I did the 2k1 MAF upgrade on my 2k2 (due to a stalling problem) however there is a really weird power loss problem. On Mother's Day I was driving on the highway going about 80 and the tachometer would drop to 0. The car would jerk then resume RPMs. This happened seriously 6 times before I turned around and took my gf's car. Is it possible I messed up the thermister when I moved it? Also, when I idle, it's not real rough like it used to be but it stutters/shakes a little bit... enough that I can feel it with my hands on the wheel. It kind of reminds me what it would behave like just before it would stall but it hasn't stalled since I did the upgrade. Any suggestions on what this might be would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I dont have a 2K2 max, I have the 01 and my guess would be that the 2 MAF's have a different design or that the 01 can't withstand/support the power increase. My .02.

Check it to see if it's not physically/obviously damaged. If it was damaged, your MIL will light up.

I wouldn't of thought the 2K1 was the strongest MAF. Why would Nissan put a weaker unit into their more powerful maxima for the 5th gens?

The 03 MAF is the same as the 01, but it has the thermistor in it.

I'm sure when they released it, Bosch failed to mention, this MAF sucks. Nissan just went with what they deemed good, and it turned out it wasn't as good as they thought, it wasn't planned. Time told the story.

No SES constant light... When I was trying to pry open the clips I tried using a razor and I'm pretty sure that I slice the IAT a little bit... I read some other posts where people were clipping them with wire cutters because they couldn't get them out ... My car just stalled twice on the way home from work while stopped at a red light. Performance wise it seems to do a lot better, it just keeps freaking stalling and having power dips and it's driving me insane. When you pull the SES code is it specific to a MAF or could it be a couple things? Unfortunately I didn't get the code from the shop but I'm just curious.

Thanks!

Let me amend that statement, I didn't damage the actual sensor just maybe part of the wire.

You could reset the ECU, do the idle air learning procedure, throttle valve closed position, and throttle position learning procedures to see if it helps (it won't hurt anything).
