nah you hook it up in series with your o2 sensors and it sends a false reading to the pcm(computer) to stop o2 sensor codes(p0420 ect)

Since u're in FL, you can use an even cheaper option.

Simply use a spark plug non fouler that you can buy at autozone for like 4 bucks.

It has 2 pieces in one pack. You drill through one of them and bolt it into the exhaust where the secondary O2 sensor goes. You then bolt in the O2 sensor into the non fouler. For folks with no emissions checks this method works well to keep the 0430 and 0420 codes off.

I was to do a write up but work has just taken too much of my time recently.

Here's a good one that I've used in the past (not for my Max though).

Depends on the DTC you're getting. P0430 is for the front bank pre-cat and P0420 is for the rear bank pre-cat. What codes are you pulling?

The non fouler fix only works for the secondary O2 sensors.

The secondary O2 sesnor are basically out there only to monitor the pre-cats. The A/F ratio is controlled by the primary O2 sensors on the exhaust manifold.

When your precats are bad and start to throw the 0430 and 0420 codes you can use the non fouler to basically fool the ECU.

What happens is since the O2 sensor is sitting in the non fouler it doesnt get the same amount of exhaust on it. Thus, with the little exhaust that does go on the O2 sensor it is unable to detect that the cat has gone bad and basically you dont get your 0430 or 0420.

From my readings here on the forums, I have read that the 0420 can also be for the main cat but i have not done any further deep dives into reading more about it.

Yeah, thats the link I used myself.

I have the pics of the O2 sensor in the non fouler and directly in the exhaust in an effort to clear out my 0430.

I think I can make one just for the maximas using pics from there and adding the additional pics/steps just for the max.
