Using or thinking about using S-AFC please read
I recently had a customer with an 03 Max using a S-AFC and his car was running like crap. It threw mulitple TPS codes, MAF code, random misfire code. Car would run fine when cold but once warmed up would not go over 2 mph or 1000rpm. If you rev it in netural it would go to 3000rpm sometimes. After some diagnosing time we couldnt find anything out of spec or bad sensors so we determined that it was the S-AFC causing it. Removed the S-AFC completely from his ECU wiring and car runs fine now. Odd thing is that he was using the S-AFC for at least a few months and it just went bad all of a sudden.
So im curious if anyone else with an 02-03 has this problem and how many people are actually using an S-AFC?

AFAIK, no one has had such problems, but is it a SAFC or SAFC-II? Just clarifying...
Did y'all try the same SAFC on someone else's car or try someone else's working SAFC in his car?

I haven't noticed that but I have noticed and confirmed with 2 other members that the SAFCII gets a random signal loss re: RPM after 6k. So, all corrections after 6k, are nil. It must be restarted (powered down completely) before it comes back online.
Note: No other items are affected by this phenomena
i.e. MAF/TPS.
Been using it for around 10-15k.

The only issue I've heard of is what Nmexmax mentioned above. I think both he and SR20DEN (and I'm sure some others) ran into the signal loss > 6000 rpms.
Here's another member that's seen this signal loss. But, with respect to the original problem, this may be drifting
Then again, perhaps the signal loss is an early warning sign.

I ran a S-afc on my turbo eclipse, and i had the same symptoms. Take the back off the unit nad see if the big chip has a burn mark on it. Thats what mine was. It would run fine, but after a while it would start to go nuts on me. My display would randomly blink on and off, but the settings were good. So it sounds to me that the unit has taken a dump on you. TAke off teh screws and check out the insides.
