What can cause more cranks then usual?

Well I did the oil catch can and it was taking way to many cranks to turn over so I decided to remove it and put everything back the way it was.

So now it's taking 7-9 cranks in order to start the car instead of the usual 2-3 so I'm racking my brain trying to figure out what went wrong. The only event that happened that day is

Previous to the catch can while in the auto parts parking lot I was turning on the car but didn't crank enough to start so I turned the key of course a second time and it did take extra cranks to turn on the car.

I shoulda started turned the car off and on again before doing the catch can to rule out the starter but I wasn't thinking about it.

So now I'm thinking maybe there's a vacuum leak that's causing the car to need more cranks but I'm not sure if thatll do it?

My car is an 02 with 60k on it, has anyone had any starter issues anywhere near those miles? Also my car is under warranty still do you think they'll even consider changing the starter for an issue like this? The starter isn't making any funny noises or anything like that and no extra service lights are popping up on my dashboard. It has a new battery, fuel filter, air filter.

Any Help/Suggestion is greatly appreciated!

i have a 01 AE and sometimes it also takes longer than usual to crank, I was wondering if the dealer would even consider changing out the starter like you were saying, b/c I still have a warranty also. I don't have any check engine lights or anything like that either.

I thought I'd have some educated responses to this but I guess it's a lazy post day. I'm not thinking it's the starter though but the problem does go on!

Do you have an MIL? If so, what code is it? How's the idle? And just to confirm, this started precisely after the new catch can install? I believe you mentioned you changed the PCV valve as well? Is it installed correctly? Not clogged or faulty?

Here a some causes of a hard start, in no particular order:

Starter, battery, Crank position sensor, Engine Coolant Sensor, bad grounds, IM leak

Also, double check your catch can install.

Well i'm starting to think maybe something went bad with the fuel filter install? I had a full tank when I did it and I did the PCV with less then half a tank. I filled up the gas once again today and it's starting a little better so I'm wondering if it's even possible to mess up the fuel filter install.

I have no MIL the idle once the car started is good and I went back to the old PCV valve.

Something else came up, I changed my spark plugs today and the center plug on the backside of the engine was full of oil. What does this mean? I'm to tired right now to search threw the forum but I'd appreciate a suggestion to what causes this?
