LED window switch mod

A buddy of mine who works with LEDs help me make these. He did it to all 4 window switches and they came out good. These pictures don't do the switches any justice. The pictures also came out a bit blurry so don't mind the pictures.

These pictures do not do them any justice since they didn't come out the best. My friend will also be doing my climate control pretty soon as it will have a blue and white combo.

That looks sick! I now want to do that to my car, but I'm not so good with that sort of thing.

Can you tell us how he did it?

He opened the switches and soldered the leds onto the circuit board. It was a bish trying to figure why some would light up.

law, yeah holmes, find out which voltage leds he used, you shoulda got him to snap pics of it while he had it opened and in the process (hindsight is 20/20 i guess). anyway, yeah that looks hot; i've been wanting to do my clock, ignition ring, and climate control buttons too. the climate control ones ar what worries me the most.

He is about to do the climate control buttons for me soon. He has the control at the moment taking his time to see where he can place LEDs to make everything light up evenly.

awesome, if it isn't too much trouble for him, could you see if he could snap a couple of "in-progress" pics for reference for the rest of us? much appreciated.

The LED's to use are 3mm. The brightness depends on the value of the mcd's. The higher the number, the brighter the LED. I used 3mm, 5000 mcds in my door switches, and underneath the climate control unit. I also modded the LED shifter indicators in the guage cluster with 5mm LEDs and also did the turn signal indicators as well. Here are a few pics of them installed in my car. There's plenty of write-ups on these LED mods. Search is your friend.

My friend might actually start selling them but you'd have to be without your window switches for a few days. But I'd have to ask him if he would be willing too.

It looks pretty cool. Maybe I'll try it if I'll find some spare time.

Ugg the passenger side door was worse, it has 2 contacts, 2 springs and 2 *****, i was not expecting that when i popped it open, but the led just slides right off on a rubber mount, Looks good
