For those 5.5 Gens who have Blehmco LTB II installed...help

Hey All,

I purchased the LTB stage II more than a year ago. I never got to install it because when i tried i discovered that the mounting holes did NOT match on the rear mount points. (they were 3-4mm off) This really discouraged me, ...plus, i knew that my car was still under extended Nissan warranty and any mods could void it.

Anyway....now i am thinking about attempting this install again. The instructions and pictures i have are for 2000-2001 Maxima and it looks like ...the 2002-2003 have DIFFERENT rear mounting points. (i have to use one of the 3 big bolts that hold the control arm).

Does anyone have pictures from a 5.5gen Maxima with LTB II installed? Does anyone have any specific tips/suggestions for installing the LTB II in general? (i am not planning to replace the control arm bushings at this point, even though....my car has close to 100k miles ...i just don't have the tools to press them in/out.)

Any advice on the misaligned mounting points? I really want to have this mod on my car, i spent the money, and i can't afford to fail again. It can't be that hard.

I am afraid that irish has a 5 Gen maxima and it has different rear mounting points than 5.5gen.

I have the step-by-step instructions for the 5th gen maxima and they all make sense....except that my car looks slightly different under...and that my LTB II does not align properly.

Regardless of model, it will take some hammering with a mallet to bend the front arm(s) to the right position. By hammering I don't mean beat the crap out of it, only hard enough to finesse(sp?) it into shape. It's trial and error.

Second dibs to solve your problem...

I believe I had the same issue, it didn't look like it would fit at all. I even called the seller I got it from, but it does fit. The bushings however are a good idea to do when you do this. I installed the LTB while the car was on jacks, thus binding my bushings. Until I get ES ones to replace them, my LTB + bushings are creaking like a bish.

i have the same issue..i still havent installed it

about an inch or 2 off.... Matt told me that while the specifications are on target, the powercoating process says shrinks the metal to be off so that you have to hit and mold it to fit.

I have tried hitting the crap of out it. It didnt work, but I will not give up. Going to do it soon..Good luck, tell me how you do it if you get it on..

Yes. Apparently if the bolts are tightened while the weight is unsprung, they will bind once the car is on the ground. The instructions say to back up the car a bit on the ground, then tighten them. I neglected this part, and my bushings seem shot to say the least, because I tried to rectify this and loosen/tighten the bolts while sprung, no luck. ES bushings hopefully will fix this problem.
