The search does work. If you are getting an error, you are searching something that is too broad a spectrum and the search cannot narrow down what you are looking for. Use a more narrow of a search field.

sorry if im hijacking your thread, But would it be easier to swap a 3.5 into a 5.0Gen? or do you still need to switch out the timing covers and various? ive read many threads on 4th Gens making the swap, but very few 5th gens have made the swap.. and none of the threads are detailed on doing a 5th gen 3.5 Swap..

Can you please explain why you are hijacking this thread? You have enough posts to start your own thread to ask the question that has been answered before.

Because this is actually a A33 hes talking about.. not a A32 or A33B. and the thread does say A33 Engine Replacement, it might NOT just be a 3.0 hes trying to replace it with hmm? i don't feel like wasting the forum's bandwidth on a entirely new thread.. where i could just add something to this already existing thread.

I am gonna help since I just searched engine replacement and got an error.

This is the route I would go. See the emphasis on I?
I would buy a cheap VQ35 from car-part.com and replace the pistons and/or rings from the new VQ35HR. The piston/ring combo should not run more than 400. Overall I would end up spending 1200 on the "built" motor. Labor for me would be mad cheap so no worries there. Although I would not pay more than 500 to get the engine installed. With the HR pistons/rings you don't have to worry about burning oil anymore and you should get a slight power increase.

i dont think its a VQ35HR i believe its a VQ37HR if iam not mistaken. and the dude that needs to a new engine type in something like this "Oil Consumption Problem" it should have something that involves a new engine.

The difference between thinking and knowing, in this case, is significant. And I'm sorry, but you are indeed mistaken.

Well if you know how to use a ratchet and a wrench and you can borrow someones garage you could do this yourself.
Used engine: 600-800 bucks
Engine lift rented: 100
I mean if you have basic automotive knowledge you could swap engine out in one day i'd say with some help from a 12 pack and a carton of smokes you could do this in 10 hours tops

you are replacing your engine and dont even know what you have??

VQ30DE is in the 4th gen (A32)
VQ30DEK is in the 00-01 5th gen (A33).

the VQ30DEK added dual runner variable intake manifold.

nice trivia - The K designation was for the Japanese word kaizen which translates to "improvement".
