5.5 gen info
5.5 gen info
I've had a 2000 Max since 02...I've since put 120K on her. The other night a driver ran a red light and I believe she may be totalled...probably find out tomorrow.
Even though its had its issues (MAF, rotors, etc) I've loved her and want to replace her with either a 5.5 or 6th gen.
I'm obviously pretty familiar with the 5th gen.....what do I need to know about the 5.5?

Only thing that is if-y is that some 5.5 have had oil buring issues but its only a rare few. Other than that I'm nto sure what else. I've had my 5.5 since '04 and she is running like a champ.
I've had my 03 since new with less than 20mi on the ODO. it rocks forever. I now have 129K on it, and i've just recently started really putting mods on it(i just drove it til a part broke or wore out then went aftermarket to replace it) the 5.5 is 200lbs lighter than the 6th, and while the 5.5s have a solid beam axle out back the 6th genners got IRS. don't let that fool you though. an RSB, some good performance springs and shocks, and our cars will suprise more than a few people. I love this car, and I wouldn't bother with a 6th gen unless you're looking at an 07+
i'm a tall guy 6"2 and i love my 5.5gen, but sometimes and i think the only reason i like the 6gen is because of the extra space, and its a lot wider. besides that i like the kicks of the 5.5gen, besides the headlight theft problem, i love my 5.5 max. Now i think if i do decided to get a 6 or 6.5gen it would have to be fully loaded. I mean navi, spoiler, se rims, and it has to have the elite package, with a spoiler. Other wise i love my 5.5. its alittle more closer to the bmw look, esecially the headlights now you can but the angel eyes. 5.5 is the way to go
