Hey guys, last time I made the oil change I used Mobil one synthetic oil, how many miles can I go on before changing oil again ? I used to made my oil change every 5000KM with regular oil, how about doing it every 7500KM ( with Mobil one ) what do you guys think.

Thanks

Cheers

hard to say..

all cars have different levels of wear.. some people drive short distances, others all highway.. some in hot climates, others in cold. some engines burn oil, other dont...

I think any oil should be changed at 3000, unless you know you dont have waar or contamination. the oil breaking down isnt your only concern.. Syn is good til 12-15K but other things may contaminate otherwise good oil. If you are going to extend your interval, then just send your oil off to be checked.. its cheap

for instance, this is mobile1. I got the first oil of the pan and I think this accounts for the high chrome, the engine is pretty tight.

but as you can see... I wont be extending the interval until I figure out whats up. If theres improvement on the next analysis (when I get the oil in the middle of the drain and a bit hotter), I will extend it out a bit.

I'll have my Max results in another day or two, also Mobile1 and I know I got a good sample on it. its a 17K car with dino til 14K, then to Mobil1. Might be interesting.

Oil Questions

I was running Mobil 1 since the first oil change. After 2 changes, I switched to Royal Purple ( www.royalpurple.com ). From what I understand, it will last a bit longer than Mobil 1 - but then again, it does really depend on how you run your car! I drive a lot of short, on the highway miles. A Royal Purple oil change is about $55 0 atleast where I live in Flower Mound, TX!
