What is this nasty sound?

So about 6 months ago I discovered that my AC compressor clutch was shot/broken and hanging but I didnt really know what to do about it... Sometimes the broken clutch plate would start to spin and cause a nice loud rattle, usually if someone turned on the compressor. Any way this weekend I figured out how to remove the clutch with out removing my AC. However I still have this really annoying sound at idle. If I press my foot on th clutch the sound disappears and then will return when i take my foot off the clutch. When I have my foot on the gas the sound goes away. When I break the sound is really loud. It sorta sounds like a bearing issue but I dont know what exactly in my engine has bearings that can be replaced. The noise is definitely coming from the side of the engine where the belts are. Any help would be much appreciated.

try taking the belts off one at a time. 2 mechanics said my noise was a water pump. I read up on how to change here on Maxima.org and replaced the water pump. Still making noise. I took the belts off one at a time and narrowed it down to the AC pulley. At least I didn't pay the shop $600 to find out it wasn't a water pump

Does the noise some from the AC or the transmission clutch? From what you said it wasn't clear. Could be a throw out bearing on the clutch from what you are saying with regards to the pressing of the clutch and the noise goes away. Whatever it is it doesn't sound good....

the noise is definately coming from my tranny..... my dad is insists that is the throwout bearing because the sound goes away when I press the clutch down however org'ers seems to think its the main input bearing..... my shifting dosent seems to be affected and my clutch still feels decent so I think im gonna try and ignore this noise until my clutch starts going (unless someone can give me a reason I to do this repair immediately)

I agree with the throw out bearing, that usually gets the most use and will wear out. Only you can tell how bad the noise is... if it goes completely it could leave stranded and possibly do more damage to to other components. I'd probably fix it sooner than later.
