Blacking out side markers?

was wondering what is the procedure for doing this? Do you just spray black paint over it?

You can also tint them but the're not as black obviously. How's the light output on the painted side markers?

they still light up and reflect the proper colors.

That looks great sooner. Awesome car too. I thought the light output would be non existant with painted markers but i'm clearly wrong.

thanks soonerfan, one more question though. when you say two layers of black and two layers of clear coat. do you mean spray one layer of black and then one layer of clear coat, let dry and then do it again, or just spray two layers of black two times then clear coat two times? or does it matter? sorry if it's a stupid question but just want to make sure I do it right.

im pretty sure its 2 black, then 2 clear.......

follow the procedure on the spray can. if you know anybody that has done any kind of painting, you might want to get their help. its not hard, but experience goes a long way.

I'm a big fan of the stock Titanium Edition wheels. Love mine.

Next would be the Mille Maglia Evo's

I'm thinking about doing this but i would definitely still want the light output. Can someone who's done this explain two "light" layers of black? like..... three passes of paint at 5 feet away for each layer or what?

What kina high pressure paint can do you got anyway? 5 feet?? Actually about 10 to 12 inches away is right.

I actually used some testors tinting spray on mine and the light could still shine through but I decided to just use some black spray paint and totally black them out. I dont even have bulbs in. Probably like madmaxx

the only way to get the back ones off is to pry them off, be careful though. and on the front ones you can either pry them off or pull back the panel underneath the car and popped them out that way, that's how I did the front ones.

LOL, I did it the ghetto way...I just put some window tint over mine and I think it looks pretty good...also now if I ever decide to go back to stock I can just pull the tint off of the lights, and the lights still shine through.

When I first put them on

they should push one way, and pop out. i never ever heard of "prying them out". use a cloth and flathead screwdriver, and insert on back end, and push forward, they should come right out. if you just try to rip them out youll bust the clips.

alright then so I tryed again and it seems they are really in there. Should I push from where the red meets the black Part or where the Red meets the bumper? Thank you for your time.

You are pulling the light away for the bumper. The OEM's are tight. You definately have to put some a$$ behind it but they will come out.

use nightshades if you want output, i have to put a couple of coats on mine to get it to the darkness i desire, with lightoutput of course. still shines red and amber at night but during the day, they're dark and black.

Pry it from the largest end and it should pop out, but be careful when you do it because you don't want to crack/chip them. Use a cloth and put the sharp end inside of it. I used a letter opener for mine.

What's cool about just putting the tint other then being able to just peel them off is that the have perfect lighting, they shine through almost just like stock...this is at dusk when the sun is still out...

why is this a competition?

my completely blacked out ones have perfect light output and also reflect.

painting is easier then using tint film...and lasts longer
