Installed Rear Brakes, Dissapointed

Did a rear discs and pads about 30 days ago, for inspection. They were horrible, IOW "train" screeching all the way down the road (with out breaking).

The install was fine, and everything seems ok with the install. But now I have noticed a slight screech here and there as if they were catching all over again with out even braking. Is there something I didnt do correctly with the install to have them slightly catch here and there with out braking. I just hear the damn screeching and im pretty dissapointed that it seems the install wasnt too perfect.

TIA

What kind of pads and rotors? oem? I have oem rotors and pads and it's silent.

Are the little spring clips that push the pads away from the rotors installed correctly?

I'll check the springs, i used POS pepboys bottom line discs and rotors.
I have to paint the hubs due to the rusty eye sore.

It only happens here and there , IE if I turn I can stop the noise,

squeal could be due to incorrectly installing shims, aftermarket metallic pads that contain too much metal as opposed to softer materials, no shims whatsoever...

be careful painting the rusty eye sore, make sure you clean any debris/buildup on the surface where the wheel sits on as it can throw the wheel balance off.. and speaking of debris.. did u thoroughly clean the hub the rotor sits on behind it? because sometimes dirt fall in there and may even throw the balance of the rotor off and only squeeks the here and there.. just an idea

I would bet it it shims and cheap pads/rotors. I used the the mid-grade Auto-Zone rotors once, OEM or better for now on.

Did you lube your caliper when you did your breaks? Maybe a caliper is holding up.

I lubed the discs?. Could that whole "bedding" the brakes be the cause a new brake install to make a contact noise?

I am only painting the Calipers and visible area surrounding the hub, nowhere near the studs/flat wheel contact. I got a kit from pepboys, its actually a cleaner/tape/and Brush on (hightemp) paint, no spray.
Im pretty sure there was nothing obvious in the hub area behind the existing rotors.

Update !

This is exactly right Cdoc
we didnt grease the calipers.

Friday morning at a light the one caliper was smoking like a cigarette.
I have probably drove with it like this for 3,000 miles.
This is probably why I feel warped rotors allready.
What are my options. I know theres a good chance I might have ruined my pads/rotors.

If they havent become destroyed, what should I do,?
Considering the warped feel, it cant be too good.

When you do a brake job on any car, you have to clean the caliper, check all the seal, remove the piston and inspect to see if it's damage. Replacing rotors and pads is part of the deal, but inspecting and replacing any damage seal, pistons and metal shim is part of the jobs, and dont forget lubricating the moving parts and caliper rails. If you inspect and maintenance your brake every 6 months you will ensure your own safety and better enjoy your ride.

Good luck and if you have questions feel free to ask, I'd be more than happy to help you.

Cheers
