noise with SE-R rims!!! HELP!!
i just put on SE-R rims tonight and everything looks good. there is one thing wrong though. while im driving it almost seems that there is a whirring sound while im driving. i mounted these rims flush. i wasnt sure if i needed spacers with these rims or not. Any insight, the noise is driving me up the wall!

supposedly to my knowledge. the SE-R wheels can be mounted flush with no issues. when driving it seems to make a sound that seems like almost like metal is rubbing. but there is no smoke...no burning smell. im running the bridgestone potenza that come stock with the SE-R rims. but my old 17 inch maxima wheels never made this noise. so there has to be an issue with something almost rubbing. there is about 2-3 inches of room from the caliper to the rim. and nothing i can see is rubbing. i have no idea why its doing that.

well could this have been an issue? while i was mounting the rims. i tightened 3 out of the 4 rims in the air. the front passenger side rim. the lug nuts were loose when the car was dropped to the ground. then i tightened them. would that cause the noise? im pretty sure thats where the noise is coming from. that side. would putting the lug nuts on then tightening them with the car on the ground cause that noise?

Check your tires. When they wear down (not tread depth, normal wear) they could potentially make a whirring sound almost like a truck tire. I believe it has to do with the belts within the tires. If the tires were used when you bought the rims, that would be my first place to start.

THATS pretty much how you do it, if you dont have any air tools, Tighten just enough to hold the wheel in place, and then once you drop it to the ground, go ahead and finish tightening all the lugs

i would say the tires are on backwards if directional or bad tire. i was told to fasten the wheels tight well it in the air so it sits flush and tight. i been changing rims the past 4 cars i had between winter and summer and never had an issue.

ok guys. UPDATE. found out the rims are good. tires are shot to hell. lots of tread. but tires are "scalloped" according to town fair and my nissan dealership i work for. going tomorrow to buy new toyo proxes4 tires. got the rims relatively cheap, so i guess thats where the say comes. "you get what you pay for" thanks for all ur input. besides that SE-R rims look awesome on my car. will post pics soon

Nope... A 245/40/18 would have been a near perfect match.
If you want a 45 A/R you should drop the width of the tire to a 225 (225/45/18).
