Suspension loose

I have 130K on my maxima and for some reason (thanks to the lousy CA highways), my front suspension is a bit loose and bouncy. I have recently replaced my struts and pretty sure it is not the reason for the loose feeling.

I am either suspecting the balancing done by some high school kids at Costco who fail to balance the tires -- they rotate it and thats about it, no weigths on the rim etc.

I may want to replace the tie-rods, ball joints and end links too.. Is there some BKM to start off where to find the culprit and about replacing the following items including bushings if any...

Any inputs is much appreciated.

I would think with 130k you should be ready for some suspension work...bushings, tie rod ends for certain. Energy Suspension is a great place for upgraded bushings.

I was quoted $600 for replacing the following without parts ..

1) Sway bar endlinks and bushings
2) Ball joints
3) Tie rods
4) Alignment

Do you think this is a fair price?

1) The swaybar endlinks are $30 each at the dealer and VERY easy to replace. FSB bushings from energy suspension run about $40 for the set and are also very easy to replace. Both can be done with a basic ratchet set and some box-end wrenches.
2) This is your real expense. Either order balljoints aftermarket, have the old ones pressed out by a shop and reinstall new ones OR go to a junkyard and for around $150 you should be able to get two full used lower control arms. Make sure the LBJs are still good on them.
3) Tie rod ENDS is what they probably mean. Replacement is easyfor the outer ones, which are more likely to go bad than the inners. they cost about $30 each.
4) You will need one after doing all that work.

If the dealer is doing all this, then $600 is actually a pretty fair price I'd say.

You could do it all yourself + alignment for about $350 or so I'd say.

irish44j : The price quoted is just labor, which seems to be pretty high based on what you have said regarding replacing them.

I actually bought the Moog end links but had a tough time with the 2 bolts, so I kind of gave up on the others.
