For those that have done swaps can you swap out a 5spd gearbox with a 6spd gear box with the vlsd

 

I dont think this has ever been done sucessfully

 

There is a guy here in the org that had it done. He showed pictures.

 

IIRC he did 5.5gen auto to 5.5gen 6spd

 

5.5 gen 6MT's never came in VLSD, only HLSD.

If you didn't even know that, then you have a long way to go with plenty of research ahead of you.

hey, how much is it to swap auto to 6spd?

 

go to a transmission shop and find out how much.


and buy the 6-speed transmission when you do get the transmission get HLSD.

 

any idea on wut components i need to replace? only reaason im askin these questions is so i know im not gettin ripped off....

i kno u need:
6spd hlsd trans
front two axle?
flywheel/clutch/shifter or thats included wen u by the trans?

One guy put a 6-speed tranny in a A33A. Cost him 6 grand approx.

 

That seems semi excessive. Any idea of what the cause of said excessiveness was?

 

Towing to the shop - that cost him a small fortune. The labor was quite pricey too.

 

Also, was it 4AT -> 6MT, or 5MT -> 6MT

 

Ooh, that one I forgot - I know for sure it was a 2000-2001

 

So then it could have been either 4AT or 5MT.....

 

my mechanic swapped a 5.5 6mt tranny into his 97 maxima which was 5spd at the time. So it can be done..I would figure 2-3 g's all together

no he had a 2001 AE manual tranny swap

 

i think jeff from maxxtuning did it to his 4th gen
