oil cooler problem

i have a problem with my oil cooler. it leaks at idle but not when driving. at idle it leaks a drop every couple 3-5 seconds. i asked parts at the nissan i work at if i could just by the o-ring for it and they cannot because they do not sell it separate. yet the tech i work with says i can by it separate. on the other hand they sell it separate for the 3.5 pathfinder. from the pictures the oil cooler looks completely different. i do not feel like paying 200+ for an oil cooler just so i can get the o-ring.

is there any other 3.5 motor oil cooler o-ring that can work

Holy You have 230k miles on an 02 Max?

Are you referring to the inlet near the thermostat? If so, a new thermostat will suffice. I got one for 8 USD from PinnacleNissan.

The dealer doesn't know what he's talking about. You can buy just the "O" ring. Per S/B # 06029.

Looking through FAST there is no seperate part number for any of the FWD oil cooler gaskets. You CAN buy the 350Z oil cooler gasket seperately however, the 350Z oil cooler has a different oil cooler part number altogether.

You CAN get the o-ring seperately- I'll be happy to sell you one, or ask your local guys for part # B1304-43U00. It's not in FAST, but any experienced Nissan parts guy should know about it.
