Another "reprogram ECU for new MAF" question

I searched and read all I could find, but I am still not sure I have the answer to this:

When you replace the MAF and reprogram the ECU for the new MAF, does it get rid of the automatic-like "downshift" symptom in manual transmission Maximas?

I replaced my MAF and the car drives fine and pulls stronger, but I still get that "downshift" when I hit the gas. Others that have posted their reprogramming experience said it smoothes the acceleration out, but I could not find the definite answer to the above.

TIA

Get your ECU flashed from the dealer. Or... someone with a consult II. I replaced my MAF and got the ecu flashed and she is back to normal. However, I am auto so couldn't say **** about the manual.

Hey I know exactly what your talking about. I asked in the newbies thread not long ago and NObody pointed me in any intellectual direction, SO i donated and searched and ended up with this info. First link is a discussion thread, the second one is where I asked and got no answers (little way down from the top),and the last one is the TSB for this issue.

So yes, in answer to your question, approximately $105 spent at your nissan dealer and you should be ready to go. I have yet to do this, but at least I know what it is and how to fix it.

Thanks, Maximan! I read the first thread and the TSB before I posted this question but I got the impression they were talking about a different symptom (slow acceleration vs. a split-second dip in acceleration). I guess it might be the same problem described differently.

And, soonerfan, thanks for nothing. With all the time you spend here flaming everyone you might have done something useful. At least half of your posts are flaming other people. You do realize that doing that does not require any technical knowledge about Maximas; anyone can do that. So, that's your great contribution to the org?
But, I guess you got to find something to do when you don't have a life.

It's been rumored that you need to get the reflash to get the full benefits of the MAF, incl better gas mileage... I'd say do it.

Oh, and don't worry about the .org d!ck riders

sooner, check the join date and STFU.
The reason you have that many posts and I don't is that you threadcrap in every thread out there, and I only post when I have a reason. So, I am the one that posts only when there is a valid reason and you are the one that posts crap everywhere for no reason whatsoever.

Thanks again to 02Maximan, Orgullo, and OOmaxSE.

I'll take your word for it.

My take on the MAF ECM software update is that if you can get it done, go for it, but if not, it doesn't really matter, according to the experience of many on the Org.
