New paint job

I am looking to get my 2000 sterling mist max painted. I was seeing if anyone on the org has any opinions on a clean color or if anyone has pictures of their repainted max. Thanks guys.

MY personal opinion is to leave it alone. A good paint job will cost you around 3.5gs if not more. I don't see what is wrong with your paint. Plus getting a new paint job won't incresae your resale value much! Hope this helps

I have a lot of blemishes on my car. A lot of chips on the hood and bumper.

then go ahead and waste thousands of dollars. imo it would be cheaper to sell your car and buy another max with the color you want.

I found a local company in Central Illinois that does touch up work for many of the car dealers in the area and it is fairly inexpensive to get your paint touched up, especially on bumper guards. I had front and rear bumper guards touched up on my wife's van for $400.00. They do the work right in the car dealer's parking lot and match the paint to the existing color on your vehicle. It's quick and easy, since they do the work the same day. They are a mobile operation and have all the materials they need in thier van.

I would check with your local auto dealers and see who they use to touch up vehicle paint on trade-in vehicles. Many of the dealers use a service like the one I found to touch up paint prior to putting trade-in vehicles on thier pre-owned card lots. It's worth the time and money to have it done in this manner. You just can't wash and wax the repaired areas for 30 days.

I'd have to agree with what most people have said... Just touch up the bad spots. IMO, Sterling Mist is a nice looking color and your car looks to be in good shape.

Just re-do your front end, that what I'll be doing. I drive a 00 Sterling mist and nothing is wrong with the car and I got winter to deal with so I really see no reason for a 5th gen to need new paint unless it was just the front end.

just repaint the bumper and hood

I had the front bumper and hood repainted at Maaco (Montgomeryvilly,PA) and am extremely happy. Cost $666. The hood looked as if someone washed it with a scouring pad and scratched the ever lovin s^%t out of it. The bumper was rittled with paint chips. They stripped, repainted and blended everything and it looks great. Alot of people had bad experiences with Maaco, but I have been happy. Good luck.

I felt the same way...too many blemishes to spot paint...the whole damn car would end up being painted, so might as well do a new color.

Thanks! $2000 gets it done...a friend painted it. the paint was $225/pint! it took 4pts to paint the car...and then the cost of the clear...3 base coats and 4 clear. wet sanded and polished so figure there is 3 coats of clear to work with still. he did the jams and all. really pleased with the work. he's doing my 57 chevy this winter if all goes well. i still have to go to town with the meguiars step 1, 2, and 3! it will look like sex when its done! i want to wait another week before I go after it. that will make it a month and a half since it was painted. plenty of time for it to cure. it's baked in the sun plenty over the last 6wks.

It is solely based on your intentions. Are you keeping this car? Are you planning on showing this car? etc...

I had mine wet sanded and re-sprayed with a metallic flake then re-cleared twice over. Sponsor FTW.

If you are going to sell the car or really don't care then take it to Maaco...

If you are planning on keeping the car and want to eventually show it or just show it off then get the car re-done completely. Definitely go with a color outside of the stock Maxima color options.

Although my car has 107,000 miles I plan on keeping it for a while. Since Im putting money into fixing it I thought to myself I might as well spend the money to make it look light a neck strainer. Im not sure what color I want but it will surely not be a stock Maxima color. Thanks for the input.

My car is like one of those girls that look amazing from far away. But as you get closer and closer it just gets worse and worse until you realize they are not hot at all. I still love my car though...I just gotta stop spending $ on performance and spend some on looks now.
