Got the y-pipe installed today, and it wasn't hard at all. Getting the stock one off kinda sucked, but it was a walk in the park after that. Anyways, I was out testing it out right (like 3 min.) after I'd finished, and what do I pull up next to at my very first red light? A 5G SE AE. The kid driving looked to be about 12, so I figured I could definitely get some action. I gave it a nice rev (those of you who have the y-pipe know all about that nice little rumble you get) and he looks over and says, "****ing ricer." Another maxima calling me a ricer! I gave it another rev and this time he replied with a bone stock rev of his own. He then said, "I have more hp and an SE dude, I'm gonna kill you." Yeah, sure thing. I torque braked, manually shifted and nailed my launch, leaving him at least a good 2 or 3 lengths back by 80 or so. I gave him the thumbs up at the next light to try and be cool about it, but he replied with a digit other than his thumb. Damn I love this thing! Too bad my first kill was another max owner, but hey, he asked for that one. Now if I could only get the damned UDP on!

hehehe... hey a kill is a kill..... too bad it had to be a jerk in the other maxima. Oh well tho... glad you like the y-pipe. Sounds like it was worth it Anyhow, I am getting my UDP maybe by the end of this week. I probably won't have time to install it before Maxus though. When you get yours on post how it feels. I'd be interested in knowing how a y-pipe + intake + UDP feels on an auto max.

What in the world have you done to your car that a teen would berate you for being a ricer? What have you done to the poor thing? Shame on you!

BTW, good kill..a kill is a kill, no matter what make or model

Sounds like "Risky Business" movie! Remember Tom Cruise as a kid asking his dad if he should start the 928... for the battery's sake? It was out racing that thing around. I still never understood how that Cadillac kept up with him though. Young drivers! Good kill though!

The last thing I'd do to my max is make it "ricey"! He just heard the noticeably lower exhaust note and probably figured I had a riced out exhaust or something. Don't worry, the y-pipe is by no means ricey, but it is noticeably lower in pitch. And I agree, it was probably Junior out taking Daddy's car to get it washed or something. On the other hand, there are some rich ****'s around here who enjoy spoiling their kids, so it could have very easily been his. Oh well, in any case, he's now learned a little respect for my bottom-of-the-line GXE.

As far as the *******ed UDP, the damned belt tensioner broke after only one half turn to loosen it! I've now given up on my self install, and since I have to have a shop put on a new tensioner anyways, might as well have them throw on the UDP while they're at it. I'll post my opinions as soon as I can get it to shop and put on.

Your story reminds me of what happened to me this morning on the 5 fwy heading n/bound from the 10 fwy(Los Angeles)..
I was cruzing along at 70mph next to the fast lane and noticed a white 5gen Max. coming up quickly on the fast lane...she, that's right, this chick about "12" years old goes flying by...I switched lane, caught up to her rear..umm umm..bumper and she takes off...at 100 I eased up and she still continues to book it... what a fool of her to go faster and faster risking a ticket..that particular stretch is infested with highway patrols...
High speeds aren't my cup of tea...stop light nationals is my thing...
