Ok so i live in this Hot Texas weather in Houston I also have a black on black car. I did a search can't find any info.

Basically I can turn on my A/C i hear the compressor turn on. But no air blows out of any vents. Even with ECON air doesn't blow out. I checked all the fuses and their is no problem. I'm thinking the blower is broken. Has anyone has this problem. And where is the blower for the A/C. I need to fix this quick or i'm gonna die in my car from the heat.

 

Blower motor is under the RH side of the dash, and yes it is possible that it is seized. Replacement is simple, nothing much in the way.

 

do you know hot to get to it? Like what pieces of the dash do i have to take out or do i have to take off the glove?

 

have you tried your blower resister? those also go bad fairly ofter (so to speak), its very easy to replays mounted on the blower motor housing.

 

Not certain if the glove box must be removed, but if it does it has just six screws.

Blower is then visible under the dash, RH side.

 

I am dealing with this right now myself. I assuming because you have a GLE that you have automatic climate control, in which case you have a fan amplifier, not a resistor. The problem is one of two things:

1.) The fan amplifier is blown
2.) The Blower Motor is blown

Here is what you do:

You need to remove the glove box:
Open it up. There are four screws on the top that hold it in, two of which hold the latch in. There are also two screws outside below the dash. Just stick your head down there and you will see them. Remove the six screws and pull the glove box and side dash out.

There will be a couple of harnasses holding the box in still, just remove them. I beleive the yellow harnass is for the airbag, it is connected to the glove box by the fasteners. Remove the fasteners but DO NOT disconnect the harnass, otherwise you get the air bag light like I have now.

Once the glove box is out, you will be able to look up under the dash and see the black round peice that is the blower the motor. It is screwed in, and has a harnass going into it. If you have a voltmeter, measure the power going into the harnass. If you get greater than 1 volt, the blower is blown. If you get less than one volt, the fan amp is blown.

If you do not have the meter, remove the harnass and then the blower. Use some spare wires, or buy a couple (they're like 50 cents a pop) to connect the blower to the car battery with the ignition on (but not the car necessarily). If the fan spins, the blower is fine. If it does not, you need a new blower.




IF THE PROBLEM IS THE FAN AMP:



If the problem is the fan amp, you will need a new one. I'm still looking for one online myself. It is a round metal peice with a flat plate connected to it (I will try to get pictures here later).

There is, however, a temporary fix while you wait to get a new fan amp. You can cut the ground wire on the blower harness and re-ground it. This will make the fan spin any time the car is turned on, but you will lose all control of the speed. It spins at full blast regardless of the controls, although the A/C will work for you. You will not be able to turn the fan off either, but at least you will have your A/C. Best of luck, PM me if you have questions.

This is the yellow harnass that is clipped to the glove box. I made the mistake of disconnecting it and later turning the power onto the car with it disconnected, I know have a pesky airbag light.

For comparison purposes, My brother removed his fan amp from his 2001 max, and we tried it mine, and everything worked perfectly. Here are some comparison pics between my fan amp and his:

while on the subject of A/C problems, I need to know something. I need to know if it is normal for the auto climate control to only blow cold air when the car is in motion. It blows regular (non cooled) air when the car is stopped and idling in any gear, and sometimes will not start blowing any cold air(moving or not) until I turn the A/C off and put it in auto again. This is with the coolest setting of 65 degrees.

 

With my AC on, it blows cold nonstop...

Lmao, I may have had a similar problem. I was coming back from lunch with a co-worker. And I was coming to a light and all of a sudden the air stopped blowing. Even though it was on the max settings. I turned off the air and then back on but it didn't help. WHen I got back to work I turned the car off then powered it back on to try. And sure enough the AC started working again. I'm still wondering wtf happend.

 

Ok i have the GLE and yeah its the Fan amplifier. cost me $100 at the nissan dealer. Took 2 mins to change don't even need to remove anything just look under the dash and bam its right there.
