Low Timing

The timing on my '03 is down around 9-10 degrees at idle instead of the usual 14 degrees. Its an '03 with 125k miles and no codes showing. I did a timing bump which got it up to 10-11 degrees. I use 93 octane gas.

Does anybody know what could be causing the low timing?

How about @ WOT? Do you have a WOT timing graph? Mine sometimes hangs @ 12*, depending if I'm in P/N.

But my WOT logs are healthy.

I think thats normal at idle if you have access to the nissan consult tool you can check the main timing which should be at 15

What do you mean by 'main timing'? <--FSM says @ 'idle' in P/N. And that's where data should be taken.

it should at 15.
You might have a bad knock sensor and your ECM retards timing.
Knock sensor won't give you a light but it will show up if you scan it.
They go bad all the time on those years

I had a 97 which was known for a sensitive knock sensor. I'll look into it with the 03.

I don't know what WOT is. I'll look into it though.

Thanks.
