Just curious... does anyone else get wind noise from inside their Maxima while on the highway?? I do... it comes from the bank someplace and it sounds like one of the rear windows is slightly opened or something. Driving me nuts!

 

Sorry... I meant to say that the noise comes from the back... not from the bank!

 

yep...all the maximas have it...seems like a defect

Its the rear passanger side...i sit there most of the times and its really ****ing me off after like an hour

 

That is a shame. I wonder if the dealer would do anything about it. I dont remember seeing a TSB or anything on it.

 

in car reviews, they all noted that the maxima has bad wind noise...

 

yup.... i have it too.... but I just kind of ignore it...

 

i get that too but it helps alot if you wipe down all the door seals every time you wash your max..

 

Thanks for the suggestion! I will try that today. Funny but with all the noise, the car seems to be pretty air-tight.

Yeah, it's a common problem. I really thing it's the mini pillar. I think if they put a seal between the pillar and the window so that it does not make a 90 degree joint, more like a 45 degraa joint it would take some of the noise out.

Most of have noticed that the sound is louder on the passenger side but that is easily explained by the position of the headrest and your ears.

The other solution is to stop driving at 100 miles an hour!

Me either. I'm not claiming to have a perfect Max but I have yet to have any of the paint chips, wind noise, tranny problems and etc. that have been commonly mentioned on the org. I guess I'm just lucky.

 

I posted this a few months ago, and the service manager at my dealership noticed this problem. The eventual fix was to apply some thin 3M tape up and inside the window pane. This solved 90% of the air leak.

i read on the edmunds I30 thread that Infiniti had a solution to the problem and fixed it free but it didnt really change anything...

I was at my dealer today and overheard someone talking about the same problem on an Altima. (Which is what I am driving now because I was at the dealer, but that is another story)

The story goes that the noise that is comming from the window may be caused from some trim work that was done to the seal work in order to install window tints. My car has tints and has the noise. This would support the tape in the crack solution.

I will take a look at some cars on the lot tomorow (hopefully) and see if there is some extra trim on a stock Maxima.

 

The wind noise has nothing to do with tints, my Max is 100% stock an I can hear the wind noise around 75 mph and above. Did anybody find a way to fix this annoying problem ? I'm guessing that the trim around the rear quarter window is not tight enough ? Would those auto glass repair shops know how to fix window trims ?

 

Yep its true, this has beena problem since the 3rd gen. with that rear passenger door.
