Why are the back of these two headunits different if they are the same year? LOOK!

I am looking to buy a stock 2000 or 2001 headunit becasue as I understand, they are essentially the same and will both work in a 2000 Max. I was searching ebay for a non-bose headunit when I noticed something strange The back of one headunit only had one white harness connecter where as the other has two harness spots. What is the difference and can I use either? I have two connectors connected to my current headunit. Here they are:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA:IT&ih=001

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA:IT&ih=006

Also, do I have to worry about headunits being theft locked or should any work?

I definately want the cheaper one lol, but thats confusing because neither of them says bose on the front of the headunit in the cassett player and both are listed as non-bose...should I go ahead and buy the cheaper one?

i thought bose at first too, but then neither one says bose...just look at the back of your unit and see how many connectors you need

the headunits are always made by the same company (in this case clarion).... the only thing that bose makes are the speakers and amp because thats the only thing that would improve the sound.... i have the rockford fosgate premium sound in my frontier but the headunit is the same as my buddies "stock" headunit in his pathfinder but the rockford speakers sound alot better then stock.... if u have non-bose system in your car go with the one plug the 2 plug radio is for the bose amps and speaker setup

Did you forget to hook up the amp wire for the antenna? Even though the stock antenna cable was plugged into the back, I forgot to attach the wire to power the antenna amp.

no it works, but its just staticky. I decided to take out the headunit all together and solve my own problem. My max does have to the white connecters. I wonder what they do and if I really need them both because some only use one like the one shown in the ebay link

Yes, the amp I believe is in the rear passenger side area. I have a 01 without premium sound and I have it.

I couldn't figure out why my new deck reception was crap until someone on here told me about this wire I thought was not used for anything. Hooked that amp wire back up and wala, I got great reception. I cant recall what color it was, I think it was blue like the normal amp signal wire/power antenna.
