Just curious to see if anyone else took advantage of the dynojet there. I was pleased with my results since they were right about where I figured they should be...at least I think so.

oops. Duh...

182whp and 183 ft/lbs. torque. I figure that's not too bad for and auto. And my tranny is still jacked up. The new one goes in on Wed.

Wow, that seems kind of low. I thought the 5 gen autos dynoed in the mid-to upper 170's stock, like 175-178. I would have thought that oscai, ypipe and udp would give you more than that. what gear were you in? and did you ever dyno stock?

well, that's after the drive up from Va. Beach, and with the jacked up tranny. I have no idea how much that's affecting things. But from what I've seen, auto 5G's have been dynoed at 160-170.

I wanted to throw mine up on the dyno, but never got around to it... I think Kev got close to the same results with the PRCAI, y-pipe, and UDP. 182 isn't bad at all. If you figure 25% drivetrain loss for the auto tranny, that translates to close to 240 hp at the crank.... not bad

25% drivetrain loss? That seems kinda high. what is the drivetrain loss for 4th and 5th gen 5-speeds?

around 25% loss is kind of standard for an automatic transmission... my best guess on drivetrain loss for manuals would probably be around 15% or so.

What mods do you have? are you SC'd?

Are they? People said they are about right. I have automagic and only an PRCAI.

Since auto takes up 25% of the HP... 171 / 0.75 = 228 HP off the engine.

those numbers sound about right. Plus, the gains from a CAI won't really show up that much on a dyno....

oh ... actually yeah .. i thought u were manual ... also .. why wouldn't the PRCAI show up on the dyno? is that the same logic for the SI?

a CAI works best when it has air circulating around it. On a dyno, your car is sitting still. I guess it would apply to the SI also to some extent.

Well I talked to a guy at another tranny shop (I no longer trust my dealer) and he said he would be shocked if I wasn't losing at least a few hp from my tranny problem (I let him drive it for 10 min.). I'm getting it dynoed again next week in Charlotte when I'm on leave, and properly this time (not after 6 hours of driving). My friend took his Firebird to this place and he said they had a huge fan to help out with air flow simulation. How well this is going to work, I dunno, but it's only $45 to find out. I'll post my new results when I get them. I actually wasn't dissappointed with my Maxus run since it's right about where it should be, as long as you're realistic about what your mods will do.

A fan may help a little bit, but it still will have a tough time simulating driving down the road. Anyhow, post the results.... your dyno at Maxus was pretty good.

Hey nc00max, is your car a federal or CA emissions model? Your dyno numbers are close. My car dynoed 187fwhp with basically the same setup.

I think a 5spd 5th gen Max loses around 19% from crank to wheels. I think 15% is too low.

It varies to some extent probably. A few have dyno'd at around 190 stock which translates to about a 15% loss and some have dyno'd at around 183 which is about a 18% loss....

As far as i can tell from everything i've read, 5th gen auto's lose 22-25% which is 166-173hp. i averaged out the hp from my last et and mph in a 1/4 and figured i had 171 at the wheel. need to dyno but couldn't afford one if i wanted.

and why does everyone have that spike at about 5k rpm? is that the intake runner switch off?

So if I am putting out around 203HP at the wheels (5spd y-pipe and intake) what would that be at the crank...240ish? Why did you have so much variance in dyno 183-190?

Yes, that is what it is. Sounds cool on the dyno with the hood open doesnt it?

Mine's fed spec. I'm hoping for around 190 after the tranny replacement and letting the engine cool like I was supposed to. If not, that's ok. Today I just signed the first in a series of papers that will lead to quite a bit more horses a few months down the road...
