Which is it? A lease or a loan?

His lease payoff is likely to be higher than the car's value.

I just bought mine brand new with 7 miles on it and it had a sticker price of $32K. Doesn't seem like it would make much sense to buy one with 13K miles on it for $27K. If you really want one, go check one out at a dealer. It might not be the majestic blue, but your wallet will like it better. I dont know where you're from, but the dealer I went to in Lancaster, PA has a red/maroon 5-speed there. I almost bought that one, but I wanted white. They also have the majestic blue, but its auto. They have a black one too, but I dont know if its stick or auto.

P.S. Does anyone know how many white ones were made?

Heck no. Not unless you have $100 bills hangin' out of your pockets.

You can almost buy a *brand new* SEAE for only a thou, maybe two above his payoff. (But you'll also have to pay sales tax.)

I'm willing to bet that by the time the new Altima and Max comes out, you'll be able to get an new AE or SE for a lot less than you think...

('Sides, considering the type of car, was it broken in properly or thrashed like hell from day one? )

How do you know about 2000 of those being built? Do you have a source for how many of each AE were built?

Unless you were sitting in that car all the time, how would you know how it was driven? He could of been flooring it all the time, that would be extreme. Wait for the 2002 Max or Altima, prices shouldn't be the way off...besides, nothing like being the original owner.

27K is not that bad if you consider that it is a lease and it was done with a higher than normal residual. Most lots are done with the Anniversary Models and have no more in stock. In fact, the factory stopped in May from what I confirmed through Endicott Nissan in Florida. True figures with colors will be released soon from Nissan.

If a dealer has one, they are probably still looking for the kill and 2000.00 markups. So, you really need to hunt for one and work a deal or ante up a little more $$$ and use this one for all its worth. If it was a new pair of Nikes or Jeans that were twice the normal price, we would not hesitate to spend the dough. The cars true value lays in the heart of the owner. And a 1500 spread is easy to overcome from the joy of ownership.

And a final note, of the four-six hundred US Nissans dealers each received approxiamately 5 SE/AE making the number of cars built between 2500 to 4000 units. The Majestic Blue was to be cut off at 300-500 units only. Once the paint order was finished so was the color. Unfortunately it appears that it will become standard issue next year for all Maxima's and that is true bummer on this exclusive automobile and its long term value !!!!

You can take over my lease. My lease is up in Feb/04. My payments are ~$465. I have a Grey Lustre SE/AE 5sp with POP charger, FSTB and RSB.

All you have to cover is transfer costs. I currently have ~9,000 miles on it. I'm in NYC.

The buyout at the end is somewhere between $16-17,000, if I remember correctly.
