Desert Pearl, this one's for you.
Do your chrome tips rust?
I bought chrome tips at Auto Zone and was told by the muffler place to take them back because they would rust.
They said I needed to spend $50 on stainless-steel tips.
Living in Florida, I have to worry about rust.

Yes chrome tips will rust if they're not stainless steel. This would be defientitly a problem because in Florida "Beaches equals corrosion"

If you take care of them and wax them occassionally, they should last about 2 years plus or minus... chrome is prone to rust and form pits. Once that happens, it's game over. I personally would go with stainless steel tips.

Florida Ringing In......

I did the tips replacement about 3-4 months ago, (Thanks Desert) and have no problems with chrome. They had a little rust inside where water may have sat, but fixed it quickly with high temp grill paint. Drill a small hole at end if you worry about repeated rusting, which allows water to escape. Again washing, waxing, and drying will outlast the chrome versus stainless steel issue or until you sell the Maxima.
