I was trying to remove the shift **** to put on
an AE ****. I loosened it but it seems to get
tough to turn every 360 degrees I turn it. I'm
thinking there is a nut on the top or something.
Anybody know? I don't want to keep turning it
and stripping it. The new AE **** looks like it
just screws on and off with no nut. Please help!

there is no nuts in the shifter, its just glued, which makes it a bit#$ to unscrew it. keep trying to remove it, you will hear a pop, and after that it will come off easily. if you dont care about the stock shifter, you can get some kind of pliers and use that to unscrew it. i hope this helped, peace!

Ok, I think what's happening is that the leather part of
it is sliding around the hole in the ****. I turn and turn
and turn and it doesn't come off. Any other ideas besides
cutting the leather off of it.

wrap a towel thickly around it (or if you have one of those round rubber things to grip to unscrew lids) and get a big pair of pliers, and do it quick. it took a few trys for me and I didn't have much damage to the shiftknob at all. but it is a pain in the *** to take off. good luck.

The thing is though is that I can turn the **** round and round but it doesn't screw off. Sort of like it's stripped
but it can't be.

hmmm.... you said the leather kinda slips... so maybe you can pull the leather part up so you can get a grip on what's inside of the leather? otherwise just follow these steps and save yourself some money.

1. find hacksaw
2. saw off shift ****
3. put on different shift ****
4. now you have a ooglie STS
5. spend that saved money on.... phone calls to Cleo's corner? hehe yyyyeeeah riiight.

That's about all I can think of to do.

On my GXE **** I just yanked it off like Mr. T but on my AE **** I had to brake it off. Cracked the plastic center with a plier by sqeezzin it. Tried everything to keep to AE **** but Now have razo ****.
